CHR History
Founded as Christ Church School in 1952, a private education school within the Christ Church Parish at Dorset Rd, the school became a government-aided mission school and was renamed Christ Church Secondary School under the aegis of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore in 1973. The school shifted to Tyrwhitt Road in 1985 where it provided value-added education to several batches of pupils, and received the Ministry of Education's Awards for value-added performance in national examinations from 1994 to 1997.
In December 2001, the school relocated to a new campus in Woodlands which was equipped with the latest technology and equipment for teaching and learning. Holding fast to its philosophy that every person has worth and that his/her growth and development can be nurtured to the optimum, Christ Church Secondary strives to provide a balanced holistic education driven by pupils' needs, talents and abilities.
In 2003, the school received its first CHERISH (Silver) award for championing health practices in school and maintained it until it achieved the CHERISH (Gold) award in 2008. For its efforts in expanding and promoting environmental awareness, in 2005, the school was awarded the Lotus Award in the Green Audit of the school. In 2007, it received the Sustained Lotus Award, which is the highest award possible. Investing and believing strongly in developing the aesthetics among pupils, the school managed to secure Sustained Achievement Award (Aesthetics) in 2008, having produced commendable results in two consecutive Singapore Youth Festivals.
